The voice is excellent: "Seeing the Voices" application
Among us, not many apps excite us like this. “Seeing the Voices” aims to curate the aliya stories of immigrants from Arab countries and Iran.
This project, which was done in collaboration with the Beit Hatfutsut Museum, Yad Ben Zvi and the Ministry for Social Equality, makes the commemoration of the collective memory of the Jewish people accessible to every citizen, so that the collection of stories is done easily and conveniently, for the sake of future generations.

When the wisdom of the masses becomes the memory of the masses
This application is based on collecting information using the UGC – User Generated Content method,
That is, user-based content. Using today’s technology, collecting the stories becomes something that anyone can do on their own – and from anywhere in the world. Thus, we allow each user to take part in the creation of the collective memory of the Jewish people, and at the same time to perpetuate
his personal family stories.
Through interfacing with the API of the site systems, the videos will be uploaded to a dedicated YouTube channel, and after the approval of the system will be transferred to the museum website
Beit Hatfutsot – where they will be cataloged in the website’s library and together create the story of the immigration of Arab and Iranian immigrants.

Put the interface first
The topic is interesting and important, but in order to achieve as high a percentage of participation as possible, the interface had to be easy and simple to understand and operate.In order to get accurate and interesting details from the users, we divided the photography, i.e. the gathering of the memory, into stages, and asked the users to focus each time on a different part of the story, for example – family life, life in the country of origin and more
The technological challenge
Our main challenge was to produce a user interface that makes a process of documentation that seems complicated and scary,For something that everyone can do from home.In addition, we had to create guidance for users on exactly how to do this – so that uniform and interesting content is created. We have created a process and limitations that guide users all along the way: limiting the duration of the video,The possibility of photographing in landscape only, showing instructions to the interviewer and more. We interfaced with the API of the database systems of Beit HaTfusot and YouTube, in order to provide distribution and awareness of the videos. Challenging? Definitely. possible? Completely.
